Abstract
This paper reviews the research on school leadership in Malaysia, particularly instructional leadership. Going through the available online literature on instructional leadership in Malaysia and across the globe, it begins with relating leadership concepts in school settings across the globe with the Malaysian context. The paper discusses the understanding of Malaysian scholars on school leadership with emphasis on the instructional leadership role. It also compares and contrasts the findings on instructional leadership from quantitative and qualitative approach, and argues for such dissimilarities. It also discusses the limitations of research methodology and concludes with advocating blended methods for future researches.
