Abstract

Agriculture production is under major threat in recent scenario because of increasing global climate change, air, soil and water pollution. There is an alarming need to adopt integrated sustainable agriculture system by the farmers in their field. Pranic agriculture (PA) system could be a supportive and complementary system to the traditional farming methods towards achieving sustainability. Present study was carried out in Cruciferous vegetable crop cabbage to find out the influence of PA on yield performance and DNA polymorphism. Pranic treatment was given to cabbage seeds, cocopeat and land. Cabbage seeds were initially grown under green house in cocopeat and after 20 days it was transplanted to field. Root growth, head diameter, head weight and yield per acre were significantly (p < .05) higher in pranic treatment (18.22 cm, 17.08 cm, 1.32 kg and 18.48 ton) when compared to control (13.2 cm, 14.4 cm, 1.09 kg and 15.26 ton). RAPD marker analysis has shown average DNA polymorphism of 22 % among the treatments. PA technique helps to improve root growth and yield of cabbage. Externally applied pranic energy is able to bring internal cellular changes at DNA level. So, further detailed study for understanding underlying cellular mechanism is needed. The farmers can get additional crop growth and yield by adopting PA technique in their field.
