Abstract

Amomum compactum, widely known as cooking spices, is a herb that comes from the Zingiberaceae family. Nowadays, many studies prove that A. compactum has a function as a medicinal plant that has diverse pharmacological activities. A broad range of pharmacological activities in traditional medicine are recorded for sections of this herb, especially fruits, leaves and seeds, such as antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant, gastroprotective, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, anti-cancer, anti-asthmatic, and acute renal failure. Most of the phytochemical constituents of this plant are, flavonoids, saponins, essential oils, steroids and triterpenoids.
