Abstract

A large number of reports suggest unique biomedical applications of Selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) ranging from antioxidant activity to anticancer effects and are attributable mainly to its redox modulatory property. Various methods have been reported for the synthesis of Se NPs like the biological or synthetic methods. A detailed description of various methods used for the synthesis of Se NPs can be found in previously described reviews and is beyond the scope of the present review. Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles is an interesting and expanding research area due to the biological applications for the ecofriendly development of novel technologies. The biosynthesis of selenium nanoparticles using Plumbago zeylanica leaves extract has been demonstrated. The synthesis of selenium (Se) nanoparticles by green methods has attracted remarkable attention in recent years because of its superiority of chemical approaches, owing to its low cost and ecological compatibility. The as-synthesized selenium nanoparticles (Se Nps) were analyzed using Ultraviolet-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM with EDX) and X-RAY Diffraction. Green synthesis selenium nanoparticles could be a high potential antioxidant and antibacterial agent.
