Abstract

Protecting exotic crops against post harvest disease is most crucial as they have many health benefits over normal staple crops. The microbial organisms that attack the crop prior to harvest or even after the harvest can cause infections. Fungal and bacterial organisms attack the crop after harvest more often than other microbial organisms. For understanding and controlling of the post harvest diseases, one should understand factors favor post harvest diseases. Any post harvest loss, may be due to any diseases or disorders have a great impact on the economics of the crop. There are many methods to manage the post harvest diseases efficiently. But the result of the method depends on the sensitivity of the host. Cultural, physical, chemical and biological control is the methodologies commonly practice. Biological control is practiced more often as it is eco friendly. This review summarizes the concept of post harvest diseases in exotic crops and their management.
