Abstract

The present study aims to determine the nutrient content on Maize (Zea mays L.) affected by different levels of organic and inorganic fertilizers. A field experiment was conducted at a research farm, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab during kharif season 2017-18 on sandy loam soil. The experiment carried out with eight treatments viz. T1(Control), T2(100% RDF), T3(50% RDF + 50% vermicompost), T4(100% Vermicompost), T5(100% FYM), T6(50% RDF + 50% FYM), T7(50% RDF + 25% FYM + 25% vermicompost ) and T8( 50% RDF + 50% FYM + 50% vermicompost) with three replications laid out by randomized block design. The result revealed that the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content in the plant were significantly higher with the application of 50% RDF + 50% FYM + 50% vermicompost as compared to other treatments as well as control. The two treatments were helpful for more removal of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium from the soil and achieving a greater yield of maize.
