Abstract

Cultivation of plants is usually limited to specific areas and seasons, while due to plant tissue and cell cultures it is available wherever and whenever required. Thus desired products will be available constantly regardless of climate and place. Considering, day to day increasing demand of natural products tissue and cell suspension culture studies to check secondary metabolite accumulation in Lavandula bipinnata was proposed. The MS and LS media were found to be satisfactory to obtain friable callus and suspension culture in the present investigation. The various combinations of growth regulators viz., 2,4- D, NAA, BAP and Kn were used.
