Abstract

A protocol was developed for in vitro propagation of Erianthus arundinaceus clones. Shoot tips of Erianthus after sterilization were subjected to vertical split before inoculation. The best response for shoot proliferation was attained in the MS medium with the addition of 10 mg/l Riboflavin in combination with BAP (3 mg/l) and GA3 (0.5 mg/l) which favoured quicker shoot initiation. The shoot induction was observed within 10 days of culture. Root formation was achieved from the shoot when placed on MS basal medium augmented with NAA (5 mg/l) and 2% sucrose. The in vitro regenerated plantlets were subsequently hardened and more than 90% survival was observed.
