Abstract

Cycads are difficult to culture. Lignification of cells in the culture and early differentiation of xylem in cultures of Zamia furfuracea results in the failure of differentiation. The failure in morphogenesis and regeneration in cycads is due to the activation of biosynthetic pathway leading to the accumulation of resin.

Keywords: Cycads, Gymnosperms, Resin, Somatic embryogenesis
