Abstract
The effects of soybean leachings on seed germination, shoot and root length, chlorophyll content and chlorophyll precursors in Secale cereale. L. were studied. Treatments of 50% and 75% of soybean leaching negatively affected seed germination and seedling lenght of S. cereale. Maximum inhibition (58.11%) in seed germination was related to 75% treatment. Also, shoot and root length were inhibited by soybean leachings. With the increasing of leaching concentrations, shoot length was more affected compared to root length. In second experiment etiolated seedlings of S. cereal (10-day old) were treated with leaching concentrations of soybean in growth chamber. Soybean leaves were seperated at intervals (0, 6, 12, 24 and 48-h) time after treatment. The chlorophyll content and concentrations of porphyrin, proto porphyrin IX (Proto), Mg-proto porphyrin IX (Mg-Proto), and proto-chlorophyllide (Pchlide) were measured. The results showed that, with the increasing of leaching concentrations, synthesis of chlorophyll and porphyrin was inhibited. The effect of soybean leachings on Mg-Proto, Pchlide and Proto was the same pattern. This research suggest that soybean leachings probably influence on enzymes of conversion of porphyrin precursors and afford significantly reduced the chlorophyll concentration.
