Jean Genet (1910-1986), a famous French writer and dramatist, has given birth to numerous masterpieces in forms of poetry, novel and drama but mostly well-known for his dramatic works. The aim of this study is to consider subversive elements and concepts in Jean Genet’s dramatic works and how he could deride the meaning of death and misery by ostentatious and subversive notions and plays. The present research method is based on the library and on analyzing the main theme of Genet’s works namely death, solitude, subversion concepts, and evil. This article reviews Genet’s biography, life style, and his pieces and shows the tortuous path that Genet took from felony to fame as a prisoner who became a respected writer. His solitude and his talent, in addition to his inherent evil made him a brilliant writer in French literature and theater.
