Abstract

Palladium - 1,4-bis-(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butylbenzyl)piperazine mediated Buchwald-Hartwig aminations of 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone give excellent yields of 3-arylamino derivatives of the naphthoquinones. An investigation of their dyestuff properties on cotton fabrics showed varied colour hues, with the mordanted fabrics showing better fastness properties. The dyes were characterised by 1HNMR and TLC.
